I’m getting psyched up for BarCamp NewsInnovation tomorrow, an “un-conference” aimed at exploring digital media innovation. One of the organizers has suggested we tackle tough issues: the definition of journalism, the ideal digital news organizations, applying open source concepts of transparency to news innovation. Another organizer is this reporter from the Corvallis Gazette-Times, who has ideas and energy and also comes from the print world, like me.
A Knight News Challenge winner will be there. I applied for that program this year, and didn’t make the cut, and now I know I have to hone my idea but I don’t know where to go next. And so will an old-media developer of new-media projects.
Here’s hoping we at least learn something and explore good ideas together, even if we don’t find all of live’s solutions.
